Alice Mae Ziegler of Rolla, Missouri was born on April 1, 1933 to Otto and Mae Bax in Meta Missouri and passed away on August 22, 2020 at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 21 days.
Alice married Fred Amon Ziegler on August 26, 1950.
Alice was a longtime member of the Rolla Church of Christ and volunteered for many years in the clothing room and day school ministries. Alice loved to start the day with coffee and listening to the Morning Mayors and Paul Harvey.
Alice loved to garden. She and Fred grew tomatoes and turnips to sell and give away to older folks in town. Alice loved to can, make jelly, sew and cook for family and friends. Alice loved the outdoors. She enjoyed the fall colors, watching the birds and turkeys at her feeders, camping on the river and was a successful squirrel and deer hunter. Alice lived on and loved their family farm in Rolla for 60 years before moving to live with her daughter Connie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mae Bax; and her husband, Fred Amon Ziegler on October 20, 2008.
She is survived by her children, Mark and Jan Ziegler of Edgar Springs, Missouri and Connie and Dan Uetrecht of Rolla, Missouri; grandchildren, Janel Butterworth (Dennis) of Houston, Texas, Arianna Gray (Jason) of St. Louis, Missouri, Stacy Seelye (Luke) of Pella, Iowa, Tiffany Henry (Rocky) of Rolla, Missouri and Rachel Mae Uetrecht (fiance Ryan Marshall) of Columbia, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Harley and Jersie Gray and Noah and Eli Seelye; siblings, James Bax of St. James, Missouri and Ted Bax of Columbia, South Carolina; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday August 27, 2020 at the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens with Loyd Heavin presiding over the service.
