Loyd Eugene “Gene” Mahurin of Cuba, Missouri was born on October 7, 1946 in Dent County, Missouri to James Lawrence and Eula (Callahan) Mahurin and passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 73 years.
Gene married Sharon Webster on April 10, 1971 in St. James, Missouri.
Gene honorably served his country in the United States Army from January 7, 1966 to October 10, 1967, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Expert Rifle Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Gene retired in 2009 from Meramec Industries in Sullivan, Missouri, after 28 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Leasburg Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing cars, watching westerns and reality shows on TV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lawrence and Eula Mahurin; one daughter, Lora Jean Collins; two sisters, Beedia Precord and Wilma Mahurin; four brothers, James “Junior”, Bill, Elmer “Red” and Jerry Mahurin; and father-in-law, George Webster.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mahurin of the home; two daughters, Karen and husband Bill Parkins and Jessie Mahurin, both of Cuba, Missouri; one grandson, James Lawrence Mendoza of Cuba, Missouri; two step grandchildren, Devon Politte of Bourbon, Missouri and C.J. Collins of Cuba, Missouri; mother-in-law, Betty Webster of St. James, Missouri; son-in-law, James Collins of Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Shirley and husband Steve Stogsdill of St. James, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Gary and wife Carol Webster of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
