Dorothy Louise Brown, originally from St. James Missouri, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 25t 1941 to Frieda Bertha “Barneko” and Samuel Ray and passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the age of 79 years.
She lived in many places, making many friendships along the way and traveled to some destinations that she remembered fondly.
Her upbringing instilled a work ethic that served her well over the years. She was always ready to lend a hand and it gave her a natural sense of entrepreneurial ship where she opened several successful restaurants.
She loved to garden, cook, take pictures and keep her home meticulous. She also stayed current with technology.
She was most recently a resident of Edwards, Missouri and enjoyed the area.
Dorothy also had a love for dogs and had many throughout her life. Dorothy was also of Lutheran faith.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Margaret Simily Ray; mother, Frieda Bertha Barneko; and father, Samuel Ray.
She is survived by her husband, JR Brown; children, Betty Depue, John Barnes, Cloyd Barnes and Joe Barnes; 10 grandchildren; five step children.; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the James and Gahr Mortuary.
Burial immediately followed at the Adams Cemetery.
