Registration and sponsors are now being accepted for the Seventh Annual Team Anita Golf Benefit. This year’s event will be held on October 10 at the Oak Meadow Country Club in Rolla and will benefit local cancer patients. Registration closes on October 5.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Team Anita Pay it Forward Fund, in honor of Anita Lynch, local mother of three who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and died in March of 2014. Teaming with the Mercy Health Foundation, the money has been used to help those dealing with cancer as they go through the process, aiding patients with wigs, nutritional assistance, transportation, and other needs.
The event will be a four-person scramble and entry will include golf carts, a tournament T-shirt, lunch on the course, and a catered meal after the event. Entry is $400 per team and is open to the first 36 teams.
Prizes will be given throughout the day, including prizes for a hole in one on hole number seven, closest to the pin, additional hole in one prizes for each par three, a putting contest, and for the winning score in each flight. The special hole in one prize will be a new Mazda CX-9 or similar car from Sellers-Sexton Mazda.
Registrants are asked to prepay the entry fee. Checks should be made out to Team Anita-Pay it Forward Fund, 18032 State Route O, Rolla, MO, 65401. Team names, individual names, and T-shirt sizes should be provided when registering.
A raffle will also be held for the event for a Henry Golden Boy .22 Long Rifle. Winners do not need to be present to win, but all federal gun rules apply. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. on October 10.
The annual event has raised nearly $100,000 in cancer relief to local families and provides financial assistance such as funding nutritional supplements, gas cards, hotels, glasses, school supplies, and other relief for families who have a member battling cancer. The goal is to allow families to focus on getting healthy, not how they are going to pay for other needs as they deal with their illness. The Pay if Forward Fund has helped purchase 16 infusion chars for Mercy as well as a victory bell that hangs in the clinic, allowing patients to ring the bell when they finish their treatment.
Sign in will begin at 10 a.m. day of the event with play beginning at 11 a.m., dinner and awards at 4 p.m., with the final silent auction and gun raffle drawing at 5 p.m. For non-golfers, event T-shirts are available for $15. Anyone wanting to donate to the silent auction can do so by contacting organizer Travis Lynch to donate or to give monetarily to the benefit. Non-golfers can also attend the dinner, available by reservation, for $15.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available at Platinum for $1,000, Gold for $500, and Siler for $250, along with Hole sponsorships for $100 and cart sponsorships for $50. All event sponsors will have their names on the back of the benefit T-shirt and on a sign at the event.
