Wannette Susanne Sutton of Bourbon, Missouri was born on June 18, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to Raymond Marshall and Wilma Frieda Anna (Kaiser) Moeckel and passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 at the age of 71 years.
Her family traveled and lived all over the country as her father was serving in the United States Air Force.
Wannette attended Greenpark Lutheran Grade School and Lutheran South High School. She went on to earn a teaching degree from UMSL.
Wannette married Wayne Sutton on November 9, 1968 at the Peace Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
Wayne preceded her in death on March 29, 2003 at the age of 54 as the result of an automobile accident. Wannette remained in the family home on Lodge Road until her passing.
Wannette was employed as a kindergarten and first grade teacher for eight years at St. John’s in Arnold, Missouri and for Bourbon School District for 32 years. Wannette was loved by her students and respected by her peers.
In her free time Wannette enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She was a devoted member of Concordia Lutheran Church of Bourbon, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Sutton; and her parents, Raymond and Wilma Moeckel.
She is survived by her children, William Sutton and wife Amy of Steelville, Missouri, Wade Sutton and wife Jessica of Bourbon, Missouri and Walt Sutton and wife Mary of Bourbon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jake, Luke and Bo Sutton of Steelville, Missouri, Avery, Allie and J. W. Sutton, all of Bourbon, Missouri; three brothers, Ron Moeckel and wife Becky Olympia, Washington, Randy Moeckel and wife Patti of Millstadt, Illinois and Robert Moeckel and wife Sharon of Eldon, Missouri; three sisters, Lil Lutker and husband Gary of Eldon, Missouri, Lorene Mazdra of St. Louis, Missouri and Sherry Zehnde and husband Jim of Dimondale, Michigan; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri
Funeral services were private.
Burial was in the Metcalf Cemetery in Bourbon, Missouri.
