James Otto Bax

James Otto Bax of St. James, Missouri was born in Miller County, Missouri on October 24, 1931 to Otto and Mae (Robertson) Bax and passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 28 days.

James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean war.
He married Jeanie Field on March 26, 1966.
James opened an auto repair shop in Rolla, Missouri where he also sold batteries and chainsaws, etc. He was a fix it guy and could fix just about anything.
He was an avid coon hunter, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, although later in his life he didn’t get into deer hunting as much as Jeanie did. So while she went out and got the deer, James was always the one who cleaned it for her.
Rarely did you ever see James without Jeanie. They loved to yard sale, not so much that they needed anything, they just enjoyed getting out together and visiting with people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mae Bax; and his sister, Alice Ziegler.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanie Bax of the home; daughter, Rebecca Merrell and husband Frank of Flat, Missouri; brother, Donley Bax and wife Sandra of Columbia, South Carolina; other relatives and friends.
Because of Covid-19 the family is hosting a private memorial service for James.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary.
