The Rolla Breakfast Rotary Club is announcing that Pedal 2 End Polio has been postponed until the Spring of 2021. The event was originally set for Oct. 24, at Veterans Memorial Park in Rolla.
The committee decided to postpone the event after communicating with the Phelps/Maries Health Department, as well as city leadership. Current COVID numbers in the county make a large gathering very problematic. The Rolla Breakfast Rotary Club thought it would be unwise to sponsor an event to raise funds to eradicate a world-wide health problem, while possibly exposing participants, volunteers, and members of our community to a world-wide pandemic.
The Rolla Breakfast Rotary Club is continuing efforts to raise public awareness of the International Rotary Club “End Polio Now” campaign and the importance of vaccinations and immunizations. Worldwide Polio Day is set for October 24. We urge members of our community to “mask up,” social distance, practice personal hygiene, get a flu shot, and get vaccinated for COVID once an approved vaccine is available.
It is our hope that COVID numbers will decrease and the Pedal 2 End Polio will be rescheduled in the Spring of 2021.
