Willa Jean (nee West) Ohlhausen was born on January 21, 1931 on her family farm near Steelville, Missouri to Frank and Eva West and passed away September 16, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Jean attended Steelville High School in Steelville, Missouri. She continued her education at the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated in 1954 with a degree in education.
She met William (Bill) Ohlhausen during her time at Mizzou. They married in 1954 in Salem, Missouri. They have traveled all over the globe, but especially enjoyed family vacations to the Colorado Rockies. They celebrated their 66th anniversary in June.
Jean will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, selflessness, attending dance recitals, tennis matches, swimming meets, graduations, etc, making homemade ice cream, stylish pink lipstick and yummy cinnamon rolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eva West; sisters, Helen Barnicle and Hayes Hoener; and brother, Willard West.
She is survived by four children, Marta Kimball (Jay) and children John (son Teddy), Paul (Capri and son Percy) and Joanna Nadella (Shravan), Mary Lowery (Curt) and children Sara Deffenbaugh (Shawn), Kathryn Lane (Greg, sons Jack and Cooper), Caroline and Alex, Ward (Deborah) and children Marc (Ali and son Henry) and Daniel, and Bret (Carla) and children Jake (Rachel) and Gretchen.
Visitation was from noon-1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church.
A Memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service was limited to family and close friends.
A private family committal service and urn placement was held at the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Weston, Missouri.
