Missouri S&T to celebrate engagement week Oct. 26-30

Missouri University of Science and Technology will celebrate Extension and Engagement Week 2020 this October along with the University of Missouri System.


All four UM System campuses will showcase the impact that extension programming and university engagement have on addressing the state and local challenges in economic opportunity, educational excellence and access, and health and well-being. Events will be held Monday, Oct. 26, through Friday, Oct. 30. All events will be held online and Zoom links are available at umsystem.edu/ums/engagement-outreach.
S&T will offer presentations from six professors as part of the University of Missouri System Presidential Engagement Fellows. The talks will include:
-- “B-52s and Freeways” presented by Dr. David Rogers, the Karl F. Hasselmann Missouri Chair in Geological Engineering, at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, via Zoom
-- “Gray Squirrels in the American Old Northwest” presented by Dr. Diana Ahmad, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of history and political science, at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, via Zoom
-- “Pandemic Literature” presented by Dr. Marie Lathers, the Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Visiting Professor of Humanities, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, via Zoom
-- “How Synthetic Biology Can Change the World” presented by Dr. David Westenberg, professor of biological sciences, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, via Zoom
-- “Heavens, What a Mess!” presented by Dr. William Schonberg, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, via Zoom
-- “Concrete Castles and Tornadoes” presented by Dr. Grace Yan, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, via Zoom.
