While you may be visiting area stores, heading to the malls and looking for great online deals on Black Friday, don’t forget about another day that is even more important for local businesses—Small Business Saturday—which is set for November 28.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, Small Business Saturday is “a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities.” By supporting small, locally owned businesses, you are supporting your friends and neighbors and you are keeping your money close to home, where it will do the most good. That includes the sales tax you’ll pay that goes to support important local infrastructure projects and services.
By supporting small businesses, you are also supporting those who are the primary advocates of your community. These business owners are the ones who run your local chamber of commerce, donate to important area charitable causes and employ your friends and neighbors. They make possible much of what you take for granted on a daily basis. They are the foundation of what your community is built upon…and they deserve your support not only this Saturday, but throughout the year.
In support of Small Business Saturday, Three Rivers Publishing is bringing its readers a special, pull-out section in this week’s Cuba Free Press, Saint James Press and Steelville Star-Crawford Mirror. It highlights a long list of Christmas shopping specials being offered by area businesses not only on November 28, but also throughout the Christmas shopping season. Be sure and check out these advertisers and make Small Business Saturday a great day for yourself and the local economy.
