Battle in Bourbon begins Monday

    The Second Annual Battle in Bourbon Basketball Tournament, sponsored by First Community National Bank, is set to begin Monday at Bourbon High School. The tourney features a total of 16 teams with brackets for eight boys and eight girls teams.


    The boys will open play on Monday with four games on the schedule. Top-seeded Richland and eighth-seeded Viburnum will tip things off at 4 p.m., with second-seeded Valley and seventh-seeded Crocker at 5:30 p.m., followed by third-seeded Liberty and sixth-seeded Laquey at 7 p.m. The final game at 8:30 p.m. will feature fourth-seeded Bourbon against fifth-seeded Cuba.
    The second round for the boys will be played on Wednesday, January 6, with the consolation semifinals at 4 and 5:30 p.m. and championship semifinals at 7 and 8:30 p.m. The final round for the boys is set for January 8 with the seventh-place game at 4 p.m., consolation at 5:30 p.m., third-place game at 7 p.m., and championship at 8:30 p.m.
    The girls will open play on Tuesday with four games, starting with top-seeded Liberty taking on eighth-seeded Bourbon at 4 p.m. Second-seeded Belle will play seventh-seeded Grandview at 5:30 p.m., followed by third-seeded Viburnum taking on sixth-seeded Pacific at 7 p.m., and fourth-seeded St. Paul against fifth-seeded Laquey at 8:30 p.m.
    The second round for the girls will be played on January 7 with the consolation semifinals at 4 and 5:30 p.m. and championship semifinals at 7 and 8:30 p.m. The final round for the girls is set for January 9 with the seventh-place game at 1 p.m., consolation at 2:30 p.m., third-place game at 4 p.m., and championship at 5:30 p.m.
