Ralph J. Rutz of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, October 6, 1931 in Oak Hill, Missouri to Walter L. and Laura E. (Tayloe) Rutz and passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Ralph married Elizabeth Blount on October 17, 1954.
Ralph honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from Yellow Freight in 1994, after 30 years of dedicated service.
In 1993 he became the co-owner of Interstate Regional Stockyards in Cuba, Missouri. He enjoyed trucking cattle, being a cattle farmer and helping local people market their cattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Laura Rutz; one daughter, Vicki Ann Rutz; one son, David Rutz; and three brothers, Earl and wife Emma Rutz, Haskel and wife Pauline Rutz and George Rutz.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth “Speedy” Rutz of the home; one daughter, Mary Beth and husband Scott Abolt of Cuba, Missouri; two granddaughters, Abigail “Abby” and husband Garrett Wishon of Steelville, Missouri, and Faith Rutz of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Mary Clay of Cuba, Missouri; two cousins, Warren Rutz of Granburg, Texas and Fern Kramme of Owensville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Gary Mace officiating.
Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Scott Abolt, Garrett Wishon, Michael Clay, Ian Clay, Eddie Rutz and Eric Rutz.
