Meredith Janice Morrison of St. James, Missouri was born January 17, 1923 in St. James, Missouri to John Hanley and Ida Orilla James Spalding Jr. and passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the age of 97 years.
Meredith married William Austin Morrison on January 13, 1946 at Higginsville, Missouri.
Meredith loved making big meals for the family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening and needlepoint and always made time for her bridge games with her friends.
She was an active member of the St. James United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Austin Morrison on June 23, 2000; one infant son, Timothy Morrison; one daughter, Sally Morrison; two brothers, Robert W. and Donald K. Spalding; and two sisters, Mary Lloyd and Iola Andies.
She is survived by two sons, William James Morrison and wife Yoshiko of St. James, Missouri and Donald Joe Morrison and wife Sandra of Bel Aire, Kansas; one sister, Maxine Birdsong of Pacific, Missouri; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Due to COVID-19, the family gathered privately at the Jones Funeral Home on Monday, December 28, 2020 for funeral services with pastor Alicia Fisher officiating. Her favorite hymns “Amazing Grace” and “Blessed Assurance” were played and sang.
Burial was at the family plot in the St. James Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers.
