Helen Rose McDermott of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Indian Creek, Missouri on March 22, 1936 to Edward and Rosa (Bailey) Schoenfeld and passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the age of 84 years.
Helen worked in the cafeteria of St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington., Missouri She often told stories of working at the old hospital and then when it moved to the new building.
Helen married Francis J. Hoke.
In 1985 she married Patrick McDermott.
They served the Lord together and shared their love of dogs. Helen loved her roses.
Helen gave her life to the Lord as a child. Her dad exchanged the neighbor a ride to town for piano lessons for Helen. She faithfully used this gift in church and played for the residents once she was in the nursing home. She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly of God for over 30 years, teaching children in Sunday School and teaching in the Nursing Home ministry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick McDermott; one great great grandchild, Rae-leigh Hoke; two brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her five boys, Bobby Hoke and friend Linda of Robertsville, Missouri, Gene Hoke and wife Connie of Sullivan, Missouri, Kenny Hoke and wife Joyce of Bourbon, Missouri, Ray Hoke and wife Liz of Doniphan, Missouri and Howard Hoke and wife Katie of Sullivan, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, plus one more on the way; one sister, Marie Schoenfeld; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Full Gospel Assembly of God with Brother Ryan Martin officiating.
Interment followed in the Buffalo Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.
Visitation ws held from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Full Gospel Assembly of God.
