Betty Lou Poskin of St. James, Missouri was born in Harrisonville, Missouri on February 21, 1933 to Charles and Martha (Braun) George and passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the age of 87 years.
Betty attended the University of Missouri Columbia, where she not only graduated with a Business Accounting degree, but where she also met the love of her life, Donald Poskin.
Betty and Don were united in marriage on August 21, 1954, this union was blessed with two children.
Betty raised her children in a loving home that included attending church regularly. She was a longtime member of the St. James United Methodist Church and stayed very active in the church activities, including the Home Makers Club and the Choir, until her health no longer permitted. She was an excellent cook and really enjoyed making pies, cakes, and cookies for school and church bake sales.
She and Don belonged to the SMART Club (Special Military Active & Retired Travel) where they enjoyed traveling and meeting people from all states.
She was a comptroller for Boys Town in St. James for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha George; husband, Don Poskin in 2015; sister, Ruth Marie Bien; and brother, John George.
She is survived by her children, Karyn Larson and husband Steve of St. Louis, Missouri and Stephen Poskin and wife Brooke of Cedar Hill, Missouri; grandsons, Cody and Gage Poskin; sister-in-law, Dolores Scott; niece and nephew, extended family and friends.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the St. James United Methodist Church in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the St. James United Methodist Church in St. James, Missouri with Pastor Alecia Fischer officiating.
Interment followed at the St. James Cemetery.
