Doris “Bobby” Helen Cross


    Doris “Bobby” Helen Cross of Troy, Illinois was born in Zalma, Missouri on January 4, 1929 to Alonzo F. and Dollie M. (Bond) Shirrell and passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the age of 92 years.


    On June 22, 1946 she married William Walter Cross in Jonesboro, Illinois.
    Doris owned and operated Cross Beauty Shop on Washington Park in East St. Louis, Missouri.
    Doris loved music, especially George Jones. She and Bill loved to dance together and people would often stop to watch them. Doris also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, William Walter Cross; one daughter, Sonya Willie Cross; parents, Alonzo and Dollie Shirrell; two brothers, Jesse Shirrell and Georgie Shirrell; two sisters, Rosella Anderson and Betty Bishop; one daughter-in-law, Neoma Cross; and one son-in-law, Charles Douglas.
    She is survived by three of her children, James Cross of Sullivan, Missouri, Dolly Douglas of Saint Jacob, Illinois and Jayme Wieduwilt and husband, James of Troy, Illinois; six grandchildren, William “Scott” Pursell and wife Christy of Saint Jacob, Illinois, James Cross and wife Carolyn of Sullivan, Missouri, Misty Paul of Bourbon, Missouri, Amanda Fruewirth and husband Eric of Sullivan, Missouri, Jessica Snider and husband Christopher of Halethorpe, Maryland and Jacob Wieduwilt and wife Sarah of Easton, Maryland; 17 great grandchildren, Benjamin Cross and wife Elise, Caleb Pursell and wife Karlin, Brenden Pursell, Andrew Cross, Logan Pursell, Hope Snider, Olivia Paul, Sierra Fruewirth, John Paul, Tucker Fruewirth, Hunter Snider, Maggie Fruewirth, Parker Wieduwilt, Holly Ann Snider, Henry Snider, Hailey Snider and Jude Wieduwilt; one great great grandchild on the way; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Jacob Wieduwilt officiating.
    Interment followed in the Cave Spring Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.
