Linda Kay (nee Brand) Leach of Steelville, Missouri was born on Wednesday, July 18, 1956 in Rolla, Missouri to Harold Eugene “Gene” and Thelma Pearl Shockley Brand and passed away at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Linda was raised in Steelville, Missouri and graduated from Steelville High School with the Class of 1974. While in high school she sang in choir.
She married William Eliot Leach on June 25, 1981 at the Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri.
On May 27, 1996 she was able to carry the Olympic Torch in Festus, Missouri after winning an essay contest with KZNN. She passed the torch to Russell who then passed it on to Ozzie Smith.
Linda had accepted the Lord early in life and attended Steelville Assembly of God. She had worked at Intergram in Pacific, Missouri, Gencore in Cuba, Missouri, was a Cook 2 at Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James, Missouri, a dietary cook at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri for over 15 years and lastly worked at Mobil On the Run Café since 2017.
Linda enjoyed gardening, canning and loved to go fishing. She liked to do embroidery, talk on the phone to her sister, watch NCIS and listen to the gospel group, The Lester Family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold “Gene” and Thelma Brand; father-in-law, William Leach; and brother-in-law, Adrian Evans.
She is survived by her sons, Billy Leach (fiancée Liz Anderson) and Wesley Leach (girlfriend Ashley Leible), all of Steelville, Missouri; grandsons, Cody Jones and Dylan Jones, both of Steelville, Missouri; sister, Phyllis Evans of Catawissa, Missouri; brother, Earl (Pat) Brand of Steelville, Missouri; ex-husband, Bill (Jane) Leach of Rolla, Missouri; mother-in-law, Rose Leach of Buffalo, Missouri; sister-in-law, Beth (Gary) Colvin; brother-in-law, Dewayne Evans of Steelville, Missouri; Chris Phelps, Dexter Ferry and Justin Tallent who she thought of as sons; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
The service was live-streamed on the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO’s Facebook Page.
Burial was at the Pleasant Point Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.
