Thomas James Fowler Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on Sunday, April 23, 1944 in Oran, Missouri to William James and Madonna LaVern Tatum Fowler and passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 3 days.
He grew up in the Florissant, Missouri area and graduated from Central High School in 1961.
He married his first wife, Joan Blankenship Fowler, in 1961.
He worked as a painter for years at Ford Motor Company and was a member of the UAW. He retired from Ford in 1998.
He married Doris Lee Hahn on February 14, 2006 in Warrenton, Missouri. They made their home in Cuba, Missouri for 16 years.
He loved the outdoors and working on his land. He liked gardening, raising both vegetables and flowers. He enjoyed boating on the Mississippi. He was an avid woodworker, making cabinets, hutches, signs and various other wood items. He had a compu-carver that allowed him to make unique pieces of furniture.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Madonna Fowler; first wife, Joan Blankenship Fowler; parents-in-law, Eugene Glen Hahn and Adele Plate Hahn Meyer; brother, Mike (Veda) Fowler; and sister, Donna Fowler.
He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Fowler of Cuba, Missouri; children, Julie (Gary) Burch and Thomas James Fowler Jr., all of Riverview Gardens, Missouri and Susan (Jeff) Dean of Hazelwood, Missouri; sister-in-law; Jean (Michael) Gori of Texas; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Michael Stephens officiating.
Burial was at the Fairclough Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
