Vernon Joseph Voss Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, May 8, 1940 in Sullivan, Missouri to George and Edith (Fortner) Voss and passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 80 years.
Vernon married Karen Thompson on November 27, 1960 in Oxnard, California. After the death of Karen on September 6, 2002, Vernon married Mary (Rush) Widener on September 29, 2007 in Cuba, Missouri.
Vernon was the owner/operator of Voss Quarry in Cuba, Missouri for 45 years. Vernon honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was always creating and designing new things, to make his job and life easier. In his spare time he enjoyed gambling, gold mining, fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Voss; first wife, Karen) Voss; one son, Jason Voss; and three sisters, Mary Bernard, Virginia Swab and Debbie Voss.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Rush) Voss of the home; four children, Joe and wife Dianna Voss, Debbie Voss, Josh Widener all of Cuba, Missouri and Ben and wife Leeanne Widener of Bourbon, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Voss of Cuba, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Jodi and husband Adam Rutz, Justice, Jayden, Samantha and Jacob Voss, Brendan, Lydia, Rhys and Dana Widener; two great granddaughters, Elsie and Whitlee Rutz; one sister, Francis Voss of Denver, Colorado; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Alan Miles officiating.
Interment with military honors followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
