Resurrection Day, that glorious day nearly 2,000 years ago when Jesus rose from the dead never again to die. That day Jesus broke the chains of death, not only for himself, but for all of us who give our lives to Him in obedience to His will.
So why was it necessary for Jesus to die on the cross of Calvary? Sin made it necessary. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 God hates sin. A redeemer was needed. Jesus became that redeemer, that sacrifice for our sins as he gave His life on the cross of Calvary. He died one of the most painful deaths so that we might life.
Can we even begin to imagine the love that Jesus has for us? The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus has made it possible through obedience to Him that our sins can be forgiven. What a joy to be free of the burden of our sins and to be a part of the Kingdom of God.
Resurrection Day is the most wonderful, the most glorious day of the year, the day we remember the great love that Jesus has for us, a love that makes it possible for us to live with Him for all of eternity. Jesus has given his all for us. How can we give less than our all to him?
