Kindergarten screenings set to begin

The Lucy Wortham James Elementary School will offer free developmental screenings for five year olds entering kindergarten next year. Appointments are needed for the April 15 and 16 testing days and are being accepted now.

Students must be five years old on or before July 31, 2021 to be eligible. Screenings will give parents information regarding where their kids are developmentally and will allow for enrollment in the 2021-22 school year. Screening provide parents with a complete overview of where their child is and what areas should be addressed to prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. A screening must be completed before a child may enter kindergarten next year. Only new enrollees to the elementary school district need to make appointments.
Parents need to bring proof of residency, a birth certificate, shot record, and social security card when attending their screening. All students must live within the St. James School District.
