Mary Louise Harmon


    Mary Louise (nee Privett) Harmon was born Saturday, May 24, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Wm. F. “Frank” Sr. and Eva Morton Privett and passed away Monday, April 5, 2021 at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 12 days.


    On September 11, 1948 Mary married Clark M. Harmon in Salem, Missouri.
    Mary was known for the beautiful flowers she raised in her yard and in her home. Before her health failed she raised large gardens and put away quantities of food to share with whomever needed it.
    Many of the family’s beds are warmed by the simple quilts she made – all their hearts are warmed by the love she gave. She enjoyed reading books along with reading poetry. Mary was well known in her family for making the best hot rolls and roast beef.
    She professed her faith in Christ at a young age and was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Salem, Missouri.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Harmon; parents, Wm. and Eva Privett; son, Donald; daughter, Vicki Stubbs; grandson, Mark Harmon; brother, James (Marge) Privett; sister, Annette Cobb; and brothers-in-law, Bill Hayward and Winfred Harmon.
    She is survived by her children, Merideth (Eldon) Sapaugh of Salem, Missouri, Patricia (Earl) Brand and Steven (Martha) Harmon, all of Steelville, Missouri and Jeff Harmon (Cliff Hewitt) of Humansville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Jane (Larry) Conner of Steelville, Missouri; brother, Bill (Eva) Privett of Salem, Missouri; sisters, Joan Minn of Ruston, Louisiana,  Bess Hayward of St. Joseph, Missouri, Geneva Keith of Chesterfield, Missouri and Linda (Dan) Hillemeyer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Jean Harmon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, Robert (Erin) Harmon, Donnie (Susie) Harmon, Clark Harmon, Stephen (Tonya) Sapaugh, Ellen (Todd) Barnett, Rene (Chuck) Overton, Russel (Marcia) Brand, Rodney (Lauren) Brand, Mary (Jon) Kinnamore, Andrew (Donna) Stubbs, Eva Harmon and Steven B. (Shalaine) Harmon; 27 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” “Bring my children home,” “Go Rest High” and “Sheltered in the Arms of God” was played. Memories and a special poem were shared by a daughter, Merideth Sapaugh. The service was live streamed from Britton-Bennett Funeral Home Facebook page.
    Committal prayers and interment were in the Pleasant Point Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.
    Casket bearers were Eldon Sapaugh, Stephen Sapaugh, Donnie Harmon, Dalton Harmon, Steven Harmon, Russell Brand and Rodney Brand with Clark Harmon, Robert Harmon and Cliff Hewitt as honorary bearers.
