Glen Salzwedel Sr.


    Glen Salzwedel Sr. of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Salem, Missouri, was born on February 28, 2021 in Stanton, Nebraska to Herman and Rosa May Miller Salzwedel and passed away on April 1, 2021 at the age of 93 years.


    Glen served in the United States military during the Korean War. He received many medals including two purple hearts.
    After returning home from the Army, Glen worked at McDonnell Douglas as an aircraft painter, where he painted on one of the NASA’s space shuttles in the 1970’s.
    Glen loved his farm in Salem, Missouri. He attended Gladden Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion post #99.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Rosa Salzwedel; three sisters; and brothers, Donald, Leland, Marvin and John Salzwedel.
    He is survived by his son, Glen Salzwedel Jr. of St. James, Missouri.; other relatives and friends.
    Graveside service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem, Missouri with military honors.
