Martha L. Nelson

    Martha L. (nee Licklider) Nelson of Cuba, Missouri, was born on Friday, February 15, 1946 in Cuba, Missouri to Sherman and Dorothy Emerson Licklider and passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 28 days.

    Martha graduated from St. Clair High School and then attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri where she received a Business Degree. She worked for many years at Federal Moog in Wellston, Missouri as an accounting secretary.
    She married Ken Nelson at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri on April 26, 2003.  They had made their home in Cuba, Missouri for the past 18 plus years.
    In her early years, she had not traveled to many places.  After marrying Ken, an over the road truck driver, she traveled extensively with him during their first five years of marriage.  She ended up visiting 48 states.
    She was a member of Deer Creek Church and had made a profession of faith early in her life.
    Martha loved crafting, sewing, crocheting, making wreaths and she was very passionate about her stain glass projects. She enjoyed being outdoors in the yard and caring for her flowers.  She was also a good cook.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Dorothy Licklider; parents-in-law, Bailey and Elsie Nelson; step son, Kenny F. Nelson Jr.; brother, Jerry Licklider; brothers-in-law, Robert Knueven and Bill Nelson; sister-in-law, Kathy Steelman; and nieces, Patricia Licklider and Becky Sohn.
    She is survived by her husband, Ken Nelson of Cuba, Missouri; step children, Rebecca (Billy Joe) Griggs of Anniston, Missouri, Mark McCallister of Steelville, Missouri  and Eric (Carol) Steward of Salem, Missouri; brother, Walter “Brad” (Bonnie) Licklider of Columbia, Missouri; sisters, Kathy (Ken) Ahlheim of Sullivan, Missouri and Joyce (Ron) Sohn of Union, Missouri; sister-in-law,  Fern Knueven of Salem, Missouri; brother-in-law, Ronnie Steelman of Salem, Missouri; six step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Tommy Miller officiating.
    Burial at the Licklider Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
