Donald Eugene Chambers


    Donald Eugene Chambers of Vichy, Missouri was born June 10, 1947 in Belle, Missouri to Thomas Andrew and Dorothy Marie Moreland Chambers and passed away Monday at the age of 73 years.


    Don married Brenda Matthews on January 24, 2004 in Vienna, Missouri.
    Don was an over-the-road trucker most of his life. He drove a concrete truck for 36 years. He worked for Havin Redi-Mix, Breckenridge Redi-Mix, and Rolla Redi-Mix.
    He was most known for his 44 years with the Vichy Fire Department, serving as Chief of the Vichy Fire Department for 38 of those years. While performing as Chief of the Fire Department, many great changes were made possible including constantly upgrading equipment and building a new facility not only for the Fire Department but for the town of Vichy, Missouri.  Through his leadership, great volunteers, and support from the community, Don has made the Vichy Fire Department one of the best departments in the state of Missouri.
    Don was also known for his quick wit and fun sense of humor. When you saw Don, he had an inviting smile and was always ready to visit. He enjoyed fishing and Nascar and had a great collection of pocket knives with a story for each one he collected. He always had his unwavering faith in God and accepted His will in his life.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant sister.
    He is survived by his wife, Brenda of Vichy, Missouri; sons, Donald Arthur Chambers and wife Ramona Kay of Vienna, Missouri, Mark Andrew Chambers of Vichy, Missouri and Raymond Lee Theberge of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughter, Theresa Theberge of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Shayne Shaul, Dimesha Chambers, Dominic (Dom) Gasper, Gabriella (Gabby) Gasper, Elizabeth (Lizzy) Chambers and Theiadora (Theia) Theberge; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in St James, Missouri with Brother Gary Lane officiating.
    Military honors were held at the Jones Funeral Home following the service with the Missouri Patriot Guard providing a Flag Line for their fallen brother.
    Burial of ashes will be held starting with line up at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 1 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
    Don will be receiving his final ride on a Vichy Fire Department Fire Truck and escorts from the Patriot Guard, other Fire Departments and County Police Departments will proceed to the family plot at the Macedonia Cemetery in Vichy, Missouri for an 11 a.m. graveside funeral. Official Fire Chief Ceremonies from the Missouri Service Funeral Assistance Team, along with his Final Call will take place.
