Smith must fulfill oath

Why do Congressman Jason Smith and his staff continue to block and hide respectful constituent comments on social media? For over a year I have asked this question of him and his staff in every form of communication available to me. Yet I have received no response from Jason, and only bumbling, incoherent answers from his staff stationed around the state.

We are a nation of laws, and our courts have ruled in this matter. Facebook and platforms like it are public forums and clearly free speech applies. Jason continues to reap the benefits of having easy access to Missouri voters to spread his propaganda but continues to suppress the voice of anyone with a differing opinion. The purpose of the First Amendment is to allow people, regardless of their views, to hold the government accountable through expression. As a veteran, I did not fight in a foreign land defending these rights, only to come home and be forced to fight for them again from my own elected official.
“The First Amendment to our Constitution guarantees the right of freedom of speech, yet all too often colleges, and universities, are willing to completely steamroll over the First Amendment when they disagree with the views being espoused.” - Jason Smith September 11, 2020. Quotes like let me know while Jason is willing to misrepresent the First Amendment for his own political gain, he chooses to ignore its true meaning because it would jeopardize his position of power and privilege. This is not acceptable.
Jason could reverse this practice and begin to fulfill his oath to support and defend The Constitution of the United States. I urge you, the Missouri voter, to look at the comment section of any Facebook post by Jason Smith. In all instances you will see large number of comments on the post, but most are not visible to the public. This should not be an acceptable practice for any elected official and voters of all parties should be outraged. Thank you for reading my thoughts and please consider taking up this fight by contacting the offices of Jason Smith to let him know this is not acceptable and immediately needs to cease.
