Dolores E. Jones (nee Mullen) of Maryland Heights, Missouri formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born on Wednesday, August 29, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Edward and Martha Leona Walden Mullen and passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 25 days.
She attended schools in the Crawford County R-II School District.
She married Bill Z. Jones in Steelville, Missouri on August 19, 1946. They were married for 69 years before his death in 2015.
In her younger years, Dolores owned and operated her own hair salon out of her basement called the Pink Flamingo Salon. She styled the hair for her family, friends, neighbors and those she attended church with.
She had accepted the Lord early in life. She and Bill attended and were very active at the Fee Fee Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. She loved bowling in the church league, attending Sunday School, and helping in Vacation Bible School.
Dolores was a member of Maryland Heights Extension Club for over 30 years. She volunteered at Missouri Baptist hospital as a food tray passer and both she and Bill delivered food for Meals on Wheels. She had a servant’s heart and loved helping others. She also substituted as a cook at Remington Elementary School in Maryland Heights.
She was talented at quilting, knitting and crocheting. She loved roses and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed watching Gunsmoke on TV. She had a special bond with her son’s dog, a 140 lb. plus Cane Corso named Bruno.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha Mullen; parents-in-law, John and Oma Veach Jones; brothers, Ed (Alma Gene) Mullen, Wayne Mullen and Don (Lois Jean) Mullen; sisters-in-law, Pearl (Roy) Barnacle, Mary (Jim) Roberts, and Alma (Cecil) Edgar; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Lucille) Jones, John (Ida) Jones, and Doyle (June) Jones.
She is survived by her children, Darlene (Daniel) Ploussard of Maryland Heights, Missouri and Mark (Brenda) Jones of Florissant, Missouri; brother, Clinton (Judith) Mullen of Derby, Kansas; sister-in-law, Joy Mullen of Woodbury, Tennessee; grandchildren, Stephanie (Harold) Burton, Douglas (Tabitha) Goodman, Marcus Jones, Jason Jones and Brittany Jones, all of St. Louis, Missouri; great grandchildren, Justin Goodman, Joshua Rinck, Collin Jones, Brandon Jones, Mya Jones, Alaina Jones, all of St. Louis, Missouri and Brendan Goodman of Venice, Florida; great great grandchild, Ethan Goodman of St. Louis, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Spencer Hutson officiating.
Burial was at the Lick Creek Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
