The St. James Senior Center will be holding a Summer Fling dinner and dance on Saturday, June 26, and tickets are on sale now. This event will be used as a fundraiser for the facility and will provide food and live entertainment throughout the evening.

Tickets are $15 per person and can be purchased between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the front desk of the Senior Center. After those hours, tickets can be purchased by visiting Marilyn Disser at the St. James Caring Center.
Pat and the Boys, of Newburg, will be providing live entertainment during the evening. They play a genre of county and rock music. The band has been together for 40 years and have most notably had the opportunity to perform with Merle Haggard. They will be performing a variety of music for dancing for those attending.
Doors open at 6:15 p.m., with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be million dollar chicken, baked potato, seasoned green beans, salad, dessert, and drinks. No alcoholic beverages will be allowed. The dance will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The evening will be used as a fundraiser to continue offering services to seniors and community members. The facility provides low cost lunches to the community between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Seniors 55 and older can get a meal for $5 or $8 for those under 55 years of age.
The St. James Senior Center was established in the early 1990s as a place for senior citizens to gather and has grown to provide a variety of activities for seniors in the community. In 2014, the St. James Caring Center took over operations and the current facility was later built to provide new opportunities for the community.
The facility provides education, socialization, recreation, and health and wellness activities for seniors, providing a space for citizens to gather and enjoy a variety of activities. Seniors celebrating a birthday also receive a special birthday luncheon on the last Friday of each month, with the facility providing a free lunch and birthday cake for those celebrating.
Those interested in participating in the dinner and dance are encouraged to purchase their tickets now. The Senior Center is excited to begin offering new activities after the COVID-19 pandemic caused most activities to be halted. Now, the facility is back to regular business and hopes to draw a large crowd to help fund future activities.
The St. James Senior Center is located at 110 West James Boulevard. For more information about the Summer Fling or other facility information, contact 573-265-7072. Daily menus and activity information can also be found on the St. James Senior Center Facebook page.
