Russell House’s Crawford County outreach office to host July 20 open house

The Russell House’s outreach office in Steelville will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20. The public is invited to meet Crawford County Advocate Shelly Swearingin and learn about the Russell House’s programs supporting survivors of domestic or sexual abuse. The Russell House’s Crawford County outreach office is located at 215 Third Street, Suite 4A, in Steelville.

“I’m proud to be serving the citizens of Crawford County and providing safe options for survivors of domestic and sexual violence,” says Shelley. “Russell House not only provides safe shelter but also a multitude of free and confidential services that can help survivors establish the violence free life they deserve.”
Russell House's mission is to provide services and support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence and stalking by breaking the cycle of violence through increasing awareness, acting as advocates for survivors, coordinating existing resources, and providing safe shelter to survivors and their children. Its staff and volunteers work in support of the principle all individuals have a right to a life free of abuse.
In addition to Crawford County, Russell House has outreach offices in Dent, Maries and Phelps counties. Its Rolla shelter can provide a temporary home for up to 34 survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
