Vichy Fire Department plans Eighth Annual Leroy Tipton Memorial Tractor Cruise on September 12

    The Vichy Fire Dept. will host the Eighth Annual Leroy Tipton Memorial Tractor Cruise on September 12, 2021, at the Vichy Community Park.


    Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. with a mandatory safety meeting at 9 a.m. The ride will start at 9:30 a.m.sharp. Cost of the ride is $15 and includes lunch at the Vichy Firehouse and memorial button, honoring the memory of Will Schindler. The button is sponsored by Glenn and Pat Dressendofer. All proceeds benefit the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department.
    The 15-mile route for this year is as follows: the ride, starting at the Vichy Community Park, will leave the park via MCR 539, turning right onto Highway 63 and traveling to Highway 68. Make a left onto Highway 68. Travel to MCR 452 and make a left onto MCR 452. Make a right onto MCR 451.Turn right on to MCR 449. At the intersection of MCR 449 and Highway 68, make a left onto Highway 68, and then a right onto MCR 440. Drive MCR 440 to the intersection of Highway P. Turn right onto Highway P. Go 0.8 miles and make a right onto Glenn Dressendofer Farm. The group will take a break at the Dressendofer's Farm. The group will cross the Dressendofer farm and depart via Highway 63. From the farm, make a right onto Highway 63 and travel to MCR 443. Make a right on MCR 443. Then right on MCR 442 and then left on MCR 440. Then left onto MCR 444 to Highway 63. Turn right on Highway 63 and will conclude with dinner at the firehouse.
    Tractor drivers must be 16 years of age and can only carry passengers if the tractor has a buddy seat or enclosed cab. Wagons are allowed. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the ride.     For those just wanting a good meal, fire department volunteers will be grilling whole hog sausages and serving homemade chicken and dumplings from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the firehouse. This will be served with baked beans, homemade slaw, homemade country hash browns along with a large selection of homemade desserts. Cost is $12 for adults, and $6 for children. This dinner will include carry-out and limited dine-in.
    The fire department is also selling raffle chances on a hand-made lap quilt, made and donated by the Vichy Volunteer Fire Department Jeanette Gregory.
