Linley D. Garner Jr. of Licking, Missouri was born December 14, 1918 in Lincoln County, Kansas to Linley D. Garner Sr. and Nellie (Hickey) Garner and passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the age of 102 years 8 months and 11 days.
He was a graduate of the Lincoln High School.
On January 3, 1943 he married Gladys Loraine (Kinslow) and they celebrated 70 years together.
His love of machines and metals put him to work for McDonnell Douglas for over 50 years. He was a member of the IAM (International Association of Machinist).
His hobbies included making steam engines, cannons and guns. He was a member of the Piasa Rifle Club and the NRA.
In late 2002, he moved his family home to Licking, Missouri and enjoyed his retirement years growing his garden, target shooting, fishing, helping the church and tinkering in his garage.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Licking, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Linley Sr. and Nellie Garner; wife, Gladys Loraine (Kinslow) Garner; daughter, Kathleen; son, Charles Richard; grandsons, Dustin, Garner and Sean Million; and granddaughters, Deyonna Paige and Natalie Greene.
He is survived by his children, Terry (Teresa) Garner of Richmond, Texas and Sherry (Wayne) Tallent of Leasburg, Missouri; grandchildren, Shirley Ogla Garner, Erica Garner, Katelyn Garner, Kirstin Garner, Kelsey Garner, Dwayne Tallent and Nicole Tallent; numerous great and great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home in St. Ann, Missouri.
