The St. James Chamber of Commerce will be holding a Warrior’s Honor Walk in honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11 and is selling American flags for the event. Each flag will have the name of a veteran and will be posted around the walking trail at the Tourist Information Center.

This is the second annual Warrior’s Honor Walk after seeing the walking trail at the Tourist Information Center filled with flags last year. “You can honor a special veteran by purchasing a 12x18 inch flag for $5. Flags will be tagged with the veteran’s name and displayed on the lawn along the trail at the Tourist Information Center,” Chamber Director Robin Ziegler explained. Flags will be displayed from November 1-15.
The Chamber will also place a flag at the Missouri Veterans Home-St. James to honor each of the veterans residing at the facility.
Flags can be purchased at the Tourist Information Center, through any member of the chamber Board of Directors, or can also be purchased online at https://visitstjamesmo.com/honors-walk.
The Chamber hopes to build on the success last year and will look to use the event to celebrate local veterans and to raise funds. It also provides a way for the community to walk the trail to learn about some of the many veterans with roots in the community.
All proceeds will go towards Christmas for the veterans at the veteran’s home, ensuring residents get gifts for the holidays. For more information, visit the website or call the Chamber offices at 573-265-6649 to learn more.
