Martha Joye Kane


    Martha Joye (nee Simmons) Kane was born on July 3, 1935 in Ozark, Missouri to Edith Mae (nee Cook) and Oval C. Simmons and passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 16 days.


    At the age of five, Joye’s mother Mae married Loyd Bolin.
    Joye lived most all her life in Springfield, Missouri but lived in St. James, Missouri the last five years.
    In 1957 Joye and Leroy E. Wedge were married.
    In 1989 Joye and Buckie B. Kane were married.
    Joye began working for Commerce Bank of Springfield in 1971. In 1978 she became an Officer and spent the last 18 years in loans retiring from the underwriting department in 1997.
    She enjoyed reading, sewing, and cross stitching. While living in Springfield, she was an active member of the woman’s auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering her time.  
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Buckie B. Kane; daughter, Edith (Edie) Collins; Leroy E. Wedge and sisters, Louise Cook and Berniece Woods.
    She is survived by her daughter, Michele Whitener (Kevin); son-in-law, John Collins; sisters, Katie Coker and Sharon Kistner (Jim); brother, Cleytus Bolin (Fern); step son, John Kane (Beckie); step daughter, Janet Jones Kraft; grandchildren, Olivia O’Shaughnessy, Megan VanBibber (Spencer), Tate Whitener, Riley Whitener, Brandy Hamel (Shayne), Brittney Lawson, Brooke Beam (Ryan), Jacey Collins, Courtney Collins, Mallory Jones, Lauren Jones and Sloane Kane; great grandchildren, Harper, Blake, and Lane VanBibber, Liam White, McKenna and Taegan Lawson, Avery and Wyatt Carter and Preslie and Myla Beam; longtime friends, Fran and Dick Vick, Kim Stacye and Carolyn Laffoon; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield, Missouri.
    Interment followed at the Maple Park Cemetery.
