Reba Mae Whitaker of Clearwater, California, formerly of Dixon, Missouri and Osage Beach, California, was born April 27, 1930 at Dixon, Missouri to Owen Walter and Mabel Marie (Kelley) Dake and passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at the age of 97 years.
She married Arthur Elis Whitaker on June 26, 1946 at Rolla, Missouri.
She was of the Baptist faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life.
Her family lived in Dixon and later Osage Beach, Missouri prior to their moving to the state of California in 1961. While living in Osage Beach, Reba was employed in restaurant work as a waitress as well as being a housewife and homemaker.
She enjoyed planting and tending her garden and having flower gardens.
She really liked traditional country music and most of all, Randy Travis, was at the top of her list. In later years, she could go to church any time with her television.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; father, Owen; mother, Mabel; three brothers, Farris Dake), Cletus Dake and Kenneth Dake; and three sisters, Vinita Rollins, Linda Hauck and Marcella Groves.
She is survived by eight children, Arlene Medina (Govert VanNouhuys) of Pamona, California, Darryl Whitaker (Shellie) of Warner Springs, California, Lavira Macias of Clearlake, California, Rena Whitaker of West Point, Iowa, Betty Conta (Foday) of Lynnwood, Washington, Arthur Whitaker of Clearlake, California, Glenn Whitaker (Nancy) of Santee, California and Dwayne Whitaker of Clearlake, California; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Workman of St. James, Missouri and Eula Wolf (Bill), Petersburg, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
Graveside visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Seaton Cemetery in Dixon, Missouri.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Seaton Cemetery in Dixon, Missouri with her daughter, Arlene Medina, officiating, under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
Interment will follow the service with her sons, Darryl Whitaker, Arthur Whitaker, Glenn Whitaker and Dwayne Whitaker serving as honorary pallbearers.
