Wanda Sue Asplin

    Wanda Sue Asplin of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Leasburg, Missouri and Steelville, Missouri, was born on Sunday, May 5, 1946 in St. James, Missouri to John O. and Velma P. (Harmon) Weber and passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

    Sue married Richard Asplin on December 3, 1993 in Miami, Oklahoma.
    Sue was raised on the family farm in Cook Station, Missouri she graduated from Steelville High School and would receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Missouri State University.
    She worked at Pea Ridge Iron Company in Sullivan, Missouri for a few years. She would later work and retire from the State of Missouri as a Sales Tax Auditor.
    She and Richard owned and operated the Leasburg Mercantile Store for a few years, before moving to Aurora.
    Sue was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and guitar, reading and watching the Hallmark Channel.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Velma Weber; two brothers, John Weber and George Weber; two sisters, Wilma Kline and Mildred LaVerne McPeters; and husband, Richard L. Asplin.
    She is survived by two sons, Gregory and wife Christina Wecker of Springfield, Missouri and Brian and wife Kristen Wecker of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christopher Wecker, Joshua and wife Hailey Wecker, Jonathan Wecker and Shy Wecker; two sisters, Faye and husband Edwin Wright of Rogersville, Missouri and Bonnie and husband Clarence Garrison of Steelville, Missouri; one brother, William and wife Linda Weber of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
    Interment followed at the Liberty Cemetery in Steelviile, Missouri.
