Oma Lea (nee Green) Smith of Cherryville, Missouri was born May 27, 1936 in Davisville, Missouri to John Edward and Mabel Fannie Brown Green and passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Oma Lea married Paul Theodore Smith on June 12, 1954 in Steelville, Missouri.
Oma Lea attended Center Ridge Pentecostal Church. She was employed for many years at Brown Shoe Company. She enjoyed baking delicious desserts for her family, going to yard sales, collecting cookbooks, doves and angels and going to the beach and collecting sea shells when she had the chance.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Smith; parents, John and Mabel Green; son-in-law, Doyle Neff; brothers, infant, Charles Green, John (Shirley) Green Jr., Kenneth (Doris Green Wilkinson) Green and Jimmie Green; and infant sister, Linda Louise Green; sisters-in-law, Mary Green and Margie Smith; and brothers-in-law, Glen Martin, Leroy Tidwell and Kenneth (Roselean) Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Smith of Steelville, Missouri and Steve Smith of Cherryville, Missouri; two daughters, Rita (Dave) Chambers of Ozark, Missouri and Jeanne (Kevin) Smith of Steelville, Missouri; five grandchildren, Christian (Erica) Neff, Timothy Neff, Crystal (Quentin) Klaas, Ashlee (Brandon) Bennett and Matt (Amanda) Smith; 11 great grandchildren, Libby, Sophia, Sydney, David, Mikayla, Quinn, Cale, Caroline, Abigail, Landry and Griffin; brothers, Curt Green of St. Charles, Missouri, Harold (Linda) Green of Cherryville, Missouri and Joe (Glenda) Green of Davisville, Missouri; sisters, Marie Martin and Barbara (Fred) Mertz, all of Cherryville, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Pastor Harrison Brown officiating. Special music of Heaven Medley Songs, “He Loved Me Like I was His Only Child” and “Look for Me” were sung by Bob and Carol Coleman with Shirley Brown accompanying on piano. Memories written by her son Steve Smith were shared by granddaughter, Ashlee Bennett.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Cherryville Baptist Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Matt Smith, Kevin Green, Brandon Bennett, Quentin Klaas, Christian Neff and Dave Chambers.
