Warren William Rutz


    Warren William Rutz of Granbury, Texas was born on December 31, 1922 in Oak Hill, Missouri to Lewis F. and Ruth (Simpson) Rutz and passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at the age of 98 years.


    During his life, Warren rose from a Missouri farmstead to the US Army Air Forces, where he trained as a navigator during World War II, before completing college and enjoying a career in the oil and gas industry.
    Although Warren credited his success to good luck, he was a dedicated employee whose commitment to hard work and straight shooting led him from the oil field to corporate management.
    He married Elaine (Fink) Rutz on December 31, 1949.
    He enjoyed family trips to the Caribbean, Rocky Mountains and Badlands of South Dakota. Whether traveling or at home, he was always ready for the next adventure.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Ruth Rutz; wife, Elaine Rutz; son, Carl Warren Rutz; brothers, Daless Rutz, Lewis S. Rutz and Armin Rutz; and sisters, Okel Tayloe and Fern Kramme.
    He is survived by his son, Owen and wife Pat Rutz of Houston, Texas; daughter, Dana Hoffmann of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, John Hoffmann, Kimberly Brighton and husband Thomas, Tom Rutz, Bob Rutz and Katie Rutz; two great grandchildren, Leigh Brighton and Margot Brighton; other relatives and friends.
    A memorial service, to be held in Missouri, is pending.
