Douglas Arnold Dowler of Rolla, Missouri was born in Decatur, Illinois on October 22, 1958 to Delmar and Margaret (Cupp) Kottwitz and passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the age of 63 years.
He was adopted in 1971 by Glyn and Lorena Dowler of St. James., Missouri
He graduated from John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri in 1977.
One summer was spent as an intern in Maramec Spring. He loved working with the fish hatchery.
Doug was a volunteer for the Rolla Fire Department for several years.
One of his favorite events was the Lions Club Fourth of July fireworks.
Without formal training, Doug had a God-given talent with wiring and electronics. He was able to add devices to vehicles or create useful gadgets. Doug enjoyed sharing his skills with anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Margaret Kottwitz; adopted parents, Glyn and Lorena Dowler; step sister, Carole Romans; and brother, Phillip Kottwitz.
He is survived by his brothers, Eldon Kottwitz and wife Renee of Eudora, Kansas and Delmar Keith Kottwitz Jr. and wife Linda of Columbia, Missouri; sister, Helen Thompson and husband Kevin of Hutto, Texas; other relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the Bland Union Cemetery in Bland, Missouri.
