Jackie Eugene “Jack” Bartle

Jackie Eugene “Jack” Bartle was born on November 30, 1937 to the late Otha and Mildred (Keasling) Bartle.  He entered into rest and received his heavenly reward on November 8, 2021 at the age of 83 years old at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla.

Jack attended elementary school at Flag Springs School and St. James High School before joining the United States Air Force in Barksdale LA.  His four-year military career took him to Greenland where he obtained a life long disdain for eggs, chicken and tea.  He often spoke of the harsh, 40 below winters there.
Jack joined Lola Mae Happle in holy matrimony on August 12, 1960 and to this union two sons were born. Marvin Eugene and Scott Allen.
After returning to St. James from the Air Force, Jack was employed by Bill Cox where he learned the plumbing trade. He became a union plumber and worked primarily in St. Louis, Jefferson City and Ft. Wood.
Jack and Lola purchased a farm near High Gate in 1972, where they raised cattle, hogs and several dogs over the years.
In 1985 Jack started his own business “Jack Bartle Plumbing and Electric”. He officially retired in 2016 at which time he passed the torch to his sons, Marvin and Scott, this thriving business is now known at Bartle Plumbing LLC.
Jack was a devout Christian who loved the word of God. He preached about God’s grace, goodness, mercy and the Holy Ghost until the day he died. His favorite scripture was John 3:16 and he could talk at length about this scripture alone.
Jack was a friendly man, a loyal neighbor, and a constant jokester about money. In fact, he has probably asked every man here for a loan. His favorite greeting was  “Hey can I borrow a little money”.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Otha and Mildred Bartle and stepmother (who raised him) Lorea. His wife of 56 years Lola. An infant sister Margaret and brother Gene Bartle.
He is survived by his two sons, Marvin and wife Debbie, and Scott and wife Kimberly.  Four grandsons, Noah, Luke, Micah and Jonah. One sister Claudine (LaVerne) Parrish and one brother David (Pat) Bartle all of St. James. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. Last but not least, his beloved dog Bear.
Pall bearers were his four grandsons Noah, Luke, Micah and Jonah, Don Licklider and Mark Rolufs.  Honorary Pall Bearers are Virgil Bartle, Gordon Bartle, David Bartle, Laverne Parrish, and Frank Meurer.
