Eugene J. Walsh Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born January 18, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Anthony and Ethel “Frances” (Sansoucie) Walsh and passed away on November 11, 2021 at the age of 74 years.
He grew up and attended school in St. Louis, Missouri, graduated high school and then quickly enlisted into the United States Navy, where he honorable served our country for three years.
Shortly thereafter, he married Judy Patterson. Judy later passed away.
In 2007 Gene met Birddie Hawkins and shared 14 years together.
Christmas time and traveling to Branson, Missouri and Gulf Shores were some of their most fond memories with one another. Gene and Birddie also enjoyed being outdoors, going for walks, and attending church together. Gene had many other interests, such as fishing, shopping, woodworking, old cars and gospel and old country music. One of his favorite past times was tinkering on things, especially motors.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy; son, Tony Walsh; parents, Anthony and Frances; one brother, Richard Walsh; and two brothers-in-law, David Barr and Mike Ross.
He is survived by his fianceé, Birddie Hawkins, of Cuba, Missouri; five children, Eugene Walsh Jr. and wife Vicki, Debby Amsden, Patty Walsh, Karen Walsh and Sharon Walsh; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; niece, Melissa Lockhart and husband Terry; four sisters, Annette Barr, Theresa Ross, Jaqueline Geiger and husband Paul and Bernie Will and husband Victor; other relatives and friends.
Arrangements for cremation have taken place.
Visitation was held from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Chad Casey officiating.
