The St. James Senior Center and Kiwanis Club will be teaming up on December 11 to offer Breakfast with Santa, a fun morning of food, crafts, and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The event is free and will provide a fun activity for families.
“Breakfast is being provided by the Senior Center. (The Kiwanis Club is) going to have crafts for the kids and parents can take their pictures with Santa,” Kiwanis member Maretta Diestelkamp said.
While there will be no official pictures taken, parents can bring their own cameras or smartphones to take photos of their children visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus as well as during craft making. The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the St. James Senior Center, located at 110 West James Boulevard.
The Senior Center will serve biscuits and gravy throughout the morning while the other activities are taking place. Diestelkamp said the day will be casual, as families can drop in and drop out whenever they wish, but the Kiwanis Club and Senior Center wanted to provide another opportunity for families to celebrate the holidays together.
There will be an area for kids to frost cookies to take home with them as well as an area to make crafts. Breakfast with Santa had to be canceled last year due to the pandemic, but the club is hoping to bring the event back this year and hopes to provide a fun activity for residents.
