Angelo Raffaelo Petito of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, February 24, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York to Michel and Angelina (Ventura) Petito and passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Angelo honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 as a Radio Operator.
After his discharge from the military, he went to work as a radio operator for World Wide Shipping in Greece. He traveled around the world on ships at sea, having spent most of his time in Greece, London and Holland.
After his return to the states, he earned a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He served as the Athletic Trainer for the Salukis Football, Track and Swim Teams for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michel and Angelina (Ventura) Petito; five sisters, Philomina Matteo, Pasquelina DeMarco, Susan Guerriero, Carmella “Millie” McKeen, Grace Petito; and two brothers, Joseph Petito and Anthony Petito.
He is survived by friends and former student athletes, near and far.
Visitation was held from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Dan Lueckenotte as the celebrant.
Interment followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
