Curtis L. Lefler

    Curtis L. Lefler of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, September 5, 1946 in Dillard Mill, Missouri to John “Pete” Preston and Kiturah “Kitty” Mason Lefler and passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 25 days.

    Curtis was a lifelong resident of the Steelville, Missouri and attended Steelville High School.
    He married Betty Ann Robertson on November 17, 1965 in Steelville, Missouri.
    Later in life, Curtis accepted the Lord as his personal Savior.  
    He retired from Bill Missey Sawmill and worked many years as a mechanic for Huzzah Valley.
    Curtis was an active member of the Steelville Fire Department since 1986 and instrumental in breaking ground on the Berryman Fire House.  He served in many positions, most recently as Captain (4502) at Fire House 3.  
    He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in his earlier years he liked working on cars.  
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John “Pete” and Kiturah “Kitty” Lefler; parents-in-law, Edward and Trula Robertson; sons, Roger Dale Lefler and Curtis William “Billy” Lefler; brothers-in-law, Darrell Evans and Rick Hutchings; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Odell) Evans, Wanda Hawkins, Charlene (Junior) Amberge and Sybil (James) Ogrzewalla; grandchildren, Rebecca Janelle Murphy and Peyton Thomlison.
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Lefler of Steelville, Missouri; children, Alvin Harmon (Natalie Eye), Steven (Denyal) Lefler and Esther (Tim) Richardson, all of Steelville, Missouri and Rickey (Cynthia) Harmon of Cherryville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Geraldine King and Donna Tittsworth, both of Steelville, Missouri and Karen Hutchings of Cuba, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Sonny (Mary) Hutchings and Edward “June Bug” (Sandra) Robertson, both of Steelville, Missouri and Jestin Evans of Effingham, Illinois; grandchildren, Jennifer Johnston and Amy Young, both of Festus, Missouri, Joshua Harmon of Davisville, Missouri, Isaiah Harmon of Cherryville, Missouri, Josh Murphy and Amber Henry, both of Cook Station, Missouri, Miranda Harmon, Kendra Lefler, Ryan Evans, Breanna Lefler, Whitney Lefler, Preston Lefler, Morgan Lefler, Danielle Trautwein, Bobby Richardson and Stacey Richardson, all of Steelville, Missouri, Alisha Lefler of Sedalia, Missouri, Ashley Thomlinson and Jerry Heeter, both of Potosi, Missouri; great grandchildren Alexis Sholts, Adelynn Johnston, Tyler Young and Hailey Young, all of Festus, Missouri, Cheyanne Harmon of Davisville, Missouri, Halie Murphy, Alise Murphy, Catelynn Murphy, Jacob Henry, William Henry, Daniel Henry and Brooklyn Henry, all of Cook Station, Missouri, Ryker Brooks, Tristan Oberline, Atreus Bartosik, Jase Evans, Lucy Evans, Remmy Schneider, Zac Eaton, Zoey Eaton, Willow Jaycox, Braden Richardson and Bennett Richardson, all of Steelville, Missouri, Journey Turner of Viburnum, Missouri and Piper Thomlinson of Potosi, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
    Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday January 6, 2022 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri  with Rev. Alan Miles and Bro. Charles Jackson officiating. The service was live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO’s Facebook page.
    Burial at the Shoal Creek Cemetery in Steelville, Missouri.  
    Arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
