Shirley A. Ritchie


    Shirley A. (Hamilton) Ritchie of Topeka, Kansas was born July 22, 1928 in Cuba, Missouri to Corbett and Anna (Gorsage) Hamilton and passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at the age of 93 years.


    Shirley married Charles Claude Ritchie on June 18, 1949. Together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
    Shirley was a homemaker, known for her famous cooking skills and happy upbeat personality. She was an avid reader and a longtime member of Countryside United Methodist Church. Shirley had two very special friends, Lois Kelly of 61 years and Sarah Greiner of 44 years.    
    Shirley spent the last years of her life at Lexington Park Independent Living facility, where she enjoyed the staff and amenities.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Corbett and Anna Hamilton; her husband, Claude on August 3, 2008; daughter, Leanna (Ritchie) Raine in 2009; and brothers, Jack and Quinton.
    She is survived by her son, David Richie (Peggy) of Valparaiso, Indiana; grandson, Kyle Dean Raine of Topeka, Kansas; granddaughter, Cortnie Raine of Topeka, Kansas; niece, Linda (Hamilton) Kent and husband Clark of Cuba, Missouri; nephew, Phil Hamilton and wife Linda of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
    Service was held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka, Kansas.
