The Steelville High School varsity girls basketball opened Gasconade Valley Conference play at home Monday night with an easy 65-26 victory over Belle. The Lady Cardinals are now 10-5 overall.
The Lady Cards jumped out to a 24-7 lead over the Tigers in the opening quarter and led 41-15 at the half. It was 59-20 at the end of the third quarter before Steelville won by 39 points.
Naomi Perkins led the Lady Cardinals with 26 points, while Caitlyn Mydlo had 15. Daylan Pryor added nine, Lauren Davis five, Regan Martin four, Blanche Halbert three, Tobi Pennock two, and Haylee Woodall one.
Belle won a two-quarter junior varsity game 24-7. For Steelville, Marli Perkins scored three and Abby Kreitner and Molly Bailey each had two.
The Lady Cardinals will be back in action Monday when they play in Vienna.
