The First Annual Lane Bridgeman Memorial Rodeo will be held at the Sullivan Fairgrounds April 29-30. The event will raise money for scholarships.
Lane Wes Bridgeman was a high school student and active member of the Forest Hill 4-H Club in Bourbon. He was the son of Donald and Vickie Bridgeman and was a triplet to Morgan and Luke and also had three sisters, Zannah, Bridget, and Stacy. He was killed in a wreck at the age of 14 on August 25, 2019.
Lane always loved being on the farm and had a unique ambition and strong love for agriculture. In his memory, Lane’s brothers have sold swine to raise money for his memorial scholarship fund. The rodeo will also add to that fund with the hope of presenting multiple $500 scholarships to area seniors each year.
The rodeo will feature ranch bronc, peewee bronc, junior bronc, open bronc, and saddle bronc riding, mutton busting, calf riding, peewee bull riding, chute dogging, junior bull riding, senior bull riding and all divisions of barrel racing. Action will get underway at 7 p.m. both evenings and admission is $20 for those 12 and older, $15 for kids 6-11, and free for kids five and younger.
Sponsorships are also being solicited to help fund the event. For sponsorship information, contact Don and Vickie Bridgeman at 573-259-9211.
