Naturally Meramec, a consortium of agriculture, tourism and culinary businesses, in conjunction with Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) is hosting a Taste of Dent County event June 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dent County Courthouse Square. This event is free to the public.
This event is being held in partnership with the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the University of Missouri Extension Office.
Additional events happening on June 4 in Salem include the Salem Farmers’ Market from 7:30 to noon; the Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo from 9 a.m. to noon; First Saturday Market at the Rusty Pig, Gypsy’s Dream and Fig and Ivy from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Summerfest: Let Freedom Rock from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The activities of Naturally Meramec are financed in part through a USDA Farmers Market and Local Food Program grant.
Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. Steve Vogt, representing the city of Belle, serves as chairman of the board. A professional staff of 36 offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
