Forest City Explorers begins this week

The Forest City Explorers program begins this week and will run through August 12. Put on by the City of St. James Parks and Recreation Department, the program will see kids participate in a variety of activities throughout the summer.

Registration is open now or drop ins are also accepted. The program is for those five up to 13 and each week of the program will have a different theme for kids to participate in, or those who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade.
Kids can be dropped off at the Nelson Hart Community Hall beginning at 7:30 a.m. and activities will continue throughout the day, completing at 6 p.m.
Events will mostly be held outside, but activities could be moved inside due to bad weather. Participants will also enjoy a visit to the Tiger Shark Waterpark every Thursday. There will be a different theme each week for kids to enjoy.
The cost will be $100 per week or a drop-in fee of $25 per day. There are multi-child discounts available for families.
Registration can be completed at www.stjparks.recdesk.com with the official start set to begin July 5. Last year was the first year of the program and it was well received by the community. Parks Director Kristy Rich hopes to bring even more fun events for the community to enjoy this year.
