FFA Rodeo is this weekend

The St. James FFA will host its annual rodeo this Friday, August 12, and Saturday, August 13, with many great events coming to the Nelson Hart Park arena. The event always brings in a large crowd for a fun filled night, which will provide funding for FFA programs.

Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and rodeo events will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, ages five and under get in for free. Silver Creek Rodeo will be overseeing the many rodeo events taking place throughout the evening.
“There have been over 200 contestants register this year,” FFA advisor Tim Davis said. Events will include steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc, breakaway roping, calf roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.
“The money raised will be used for national and state conventions, all the trips we go on, and all the stuff we do in the community,” Davis said. The rodeo is one of the largest fundraisers the St. James FFA does each year and helps with all the programs students participate in annually.
Food options will be available and Ruby’s Ice Cream will be serving during the event, which is being held in cooperation with the Missouri Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Davis said the annual rodeo is the biggest event the FFA does each year besides the annual livestock show and sale and Grape and Fall Festival and he expects this year to be a great time for participants.
“It is a family friendly event and is going to be lots of fun for the whole family. We hope to see everyone there,” Davis said.
