Robert Howard Nye of Bourbon, Missouri, known as Bobby, was born on May 21, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri to Forrest and Cleo Helen (Sanders) Nye and passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 76 years.
Bobby honorably served his country in the United States Army and Air Force. He was drafted into the Army in 1964 during the Vietnam War and served in the Air Force in Operation Desert Storm. After 30 + years of dedicated service, he officially retired in 1997.
Throughout the years, Bobby drove a truck for MFA and Haven material. He was always a hard worker and could always find something to keep him busy, which included tearing down old buildings and doing some welding.
Bobby married Maelma Daroy on August 28, 2005.
Bobby loved a bargain and enjoyed going to yard sales and auctions. He was also an animal lover and a great story-teller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Cleo Nye; brother-in-law, Roger Brown, father-in-law, Samuel Daroy; and sister-in-law, Haidee Apuya.
He is survived by his wife, Elma Nye of Bourbon, Missouri; seven children, Bobbie Hickey of Leasburg, Missouri, Shannon Nye of Cuba, Missouri, Jamie Busch and husband Rodney of Valles Mines, Missouri, Tracie Nye of Sullivan, Missouri, Keshia Feltman of Bourbon, Missouri, R.J. Bunton and wife Marisa of Waynesville, Missouri and Justin Nye of Bourbon, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; seven siblings, Ronnie Nye and wife Judy of Sullivan, Missouri, Donnie Nye and wife Peggy of Doe Run, Missouri, Mike Nye and wife Anne of St. Louis, Missouri, Patricia Lizotte of St. James, Missouri, Linda Brown of Arkansas, Sharon Babcock of Rolla, Missouri and Nancy Horner and husband Rick of Hillsboro, Oregon; mother-in-law, Zosima Daroy of Bourbon, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jocelyn Polino and husband Marvin of the Philippines; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Eddie Dunivan officiating.
Graveside services with full military honors were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
